Craig and Janet Daugherty
Bio and Testimony of Calling to Ministry
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9: 36-38
Family
“Craig and Janet have been blessed to be married for over 33 yrs. God has also blessed them with two godly children who are currently in graduate school. Jared is a second year PhD student at Duke University, majoring in Poli Sci, with a focus on Minority Conflict Resolution for countries who suppress religious freedom, after working for the Institute for Global Engagement for five years as their East Asia Program officer; and Dana is enrolled in graduate studies at Columbia University in Psychology, after working as a career counselor in a charter school in the projects of Washington, DC. for a few years, and working on Women’s abuse issues in Latin America. They are both believers and their career choices truly reflect their faith considerations and corresponding core principles. Janet is currently a PhD student as well, in the Higher Education school of UCF in her fourth year. She is currently working on her dissertation on the Hmong minority peoples of China and Southeast Asia. Craig is also involved in a Chaplaincy program at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Work Experience
“Craig accepted Christ in High School and Janet accepted Christ while in College. God blessed Craig with the gift of music (percussion/drums), and he played in the Citywide Youth Orchestra; and also won an audition to join the McDonald All-American Marching Band in High School. God also blessed Craig with educational opportunities and he passed up an offer to go to MIT to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute. With only a handful of minorities in this private school, Craig graduated top in his graduating class, and began to work in the Business world and commercial sector for over 26 yrs. By God’s grace, Craig was successful in various positions at Westinghouse, IBM, AT&T, COMSAT, Lockheed Martin, where he ended his secular career as the Worldwide Director of Marketing of a Business Unit that sold IT/Telecomm Solutions globally. His career included living/working overseas in Hong Kong and China before committing himself to full-time ministry when he received God’s calling. His most recent ministry position was at Wycliffe Bible Translators in the past 9 years, working in the Office of the President for special projects, among other responsibilities; and he also worked part-time in Orlando Chinese Evangelical Christian Church (OCECC) as the English Pastor after graduating from RTS seminary with an M. Div. degree.
Heart for Ministry
“With all these God given achievements, Craig's real heart and joy has been preaching/teaching/counseling Chinese and Asian American youth, College students, cross cultural couples and adults in English services and programs at Chinese and Asian American churches, events and seminars. Nothing has been more of a blessing, or enriching, or a learning experience. Some of his leadership training experiences include Evangelism Explosion, Marriage Encounter, Perspectives, and Family Seminars. His prayer is that God will bless this incredible sharing time from his word and spiritual formation to develop the next generation of Christian leadership from these young people and adults, who have responded so warmly.
